Renee and Andrew are friends, mostly to the bafflement and disapproval of the team. The upperclassmen think that Andrew is a bad influence on someone as “sweet-tempered” as Renee. Renee states that her faith keeps her from always seeing eye-to-eye with Andrew, but they understand each other nevertheless.

The Edgar Allan Ravens are known as the nation’s best team and have a series of eight drills every player must practice. Once a drill is completed, the player moves on to the next one. Only if a player has mastered this drill are they allowed to play in a Raven game. New players spend weeks to months on perfecting this drill.
